H-JTAG Problems?

Started by tmasyl June 30, 2008
Greetings:

I have been trying use H-JTAG to program LPC21xx FLASH without success
so far. I wonder if anyone else within this group has had success with
this software? I am running Windows XP SP2.

My Olimex wiggler clone interface works good under my installation of
Rowley's CrossWorks for ARM development system IDE however it does not
work with H-JTAG. Instead of detecting the MPU on the targets I have
tried H-JTAG generates an error message. If I click the "Detect
Target" button under the "Operations" menu item I get the following
error message:

"Unable to find target. Please make sure the hardware is properly
connected and powered up."

My setup is as follows:

1) Device Manager shows my parallel port address is 0xA400 which I
have entered in the "LPx" Port Setting window. When I click the "Port
Testing" button I do get the "Selected port works well" message
suggesting H-JTAG is accessing the port OK.

2) When I click "Detect Target" I notice the RESET LED flash on my
target board which confirms H-JTAG is writing to the port.

3) Under JTAG Settings I have the following options selected:

- Wiggler (Predefined)
- nTRST output inverted
- MAX/1
- nTRST Pin2 D0
- NO SYS RST

4) Under Target Settings I have the following options selected:

- ARM7TDMI
- Little Endian

5) Target Manager and TAP Configuration are left as blank default.

I wonder if anyone here who uses H-JTAG has the time to compare
settings to mine?

Most recently I have tried H-JTAG on another XP SP2 PC however the
port doesn't pass the H-JTAG test. I wonder if H-JTAG is sensitive to
the parallel port type. My main PC which passes the H-JTAG parallel
port test OK has an ECP parallel port with a MOSChip 9835.

TIA!

Try EPP. The genuine Wiggler needs that setting for use with the Macraigor
software. I don't know if it is relevant for H-JTAG, though.

Leon
Set Parallel Port Mode in BIOS = ECP+EPP

In Jtag setting:
- Wiggler (Predefined)
- nTRST output inverted
- MAX/1
- nTRST Pin2 D0
- nSRST Pin6 D4

Greetings:

Thanks for the tips. Neither the BIOS on this computer nor Device
Manager/driver for the PCI card offer an EPP/ECP setting.

I need to check my other PC to see if EPP can be set for it.

Thanks again!
