Hi all-

I've been trying unsuccessfully over the last few days to install ver
0.84 of Myke's el cheapo software. I've tried to install to two W2K
and one Win ME machines and all have the same install problems: "some
of your system files are out of date, click OK to update and restart,
blah, blah, blah". Of course I've fallen for this a few times and
actually clicked 'OK' but the problem never gets fixed. I've also
copied the VB run time files he suggests on the site but this also
doesn't fix the problem. It seems that this software is more proven
on Win95/98, but who uses that these days? I can't even think of
where I could get my hands on a Win95/98 machine. Any ideas????
Anyone know of alternative software that will work with Myke's el
cheapo programmer? I have emailed Myke this information as well.

To compound my bad luck, I was able to borrow a PICSTART programmer
last night, but of course the firmware is out of date and won't work
w/ my new version of MPLAB IDE. Does anyone know what versions of
MPLAB IDE will still work with the outdated PICSTART programmer?

I realize the best thing to do is just buy a new programmer but I
needed to have these PICs programmed yesterday so I'm looking for a
quick fix if possible. Thanks!
