Help me out----can not download program to eeprom(ooPIC-R) - shubozhang - Aug 3 18:06:04 2008
Hey,
I just bought ooPIC-R board. When I try to execute the first ooPIC
application, I get some troubles.
1. Compiler always can not find the serial cable.I use a standard
serial cable to connect board to PC.
2.Even sometimes compiler finds the serial cable, but it fails to
download program to eeprom. I get the information like:
communications error 2
Expect:s
Receive:
or
Download error:ooPIC at serial node 0 did not responce.
3. I use a 5-volt adapter as power. I do not know if it is the
problem.
BTW, some latest messages in this group argue that Savage
corporation do not support old products any more. It seems some
problems with compiler and oEvents are still not tackled. My projcet
is try to control 16 RC servos through multiprocessors.Does anyone
could give me a pertinent suggestion if I should spend time on this
board?
Thanks

I believe the OOPIC needs at least 7.5v input to run the 5v regulator onboard. A 5 volt
input will not provide the voltage for the regulator to output 5 volts. Use the 9 volt
adapter provided.

Check the serial port configuration on the compiler and computer. And to
solve the communication error, remove/uninstall any other languages on your
computer besides English when using the compiler. The other languages can
interfere with the compiler. If your R board is running right, there should
be a green small LED by the serial port labeled "EAC" on the silkscreen that
lights on. The "download error on node 0" means that the computer could not
communicate to the OOPic. Like what Dave said, input anything above 5
volts, a 7.9V battery pack would work.

I had the same communication problem the first time. Even though I did not
use it any more, I had my palm sync software pointed at the serial port. When
I exited the palm software it worked well
