Hi,
I need some help and advice on picking the high-speed/low-speed clocks and oscillators
for an MSP430F1611. The dimensions of the components matter with as small as possible
being the best (in particular, the height must be 1.25mm or less).
For the 32768Hz low-frequency clock, I am thinking of using the CC7V-T1A
(http://www.microcrystal.com/productdocuments/variants/CC7V-T1A._1155.pdf). This one
fulfills my size requirements by being 3.2mm*1.5mm*0.9mm. Does anyone have any experience
working with this? Would this be a suitable clock? The Application Report from TI 'MSP430
32-kHz Crystal Oscillators' mentions that the load capacitors of a MSP430x1xx model are
6pF while the CC7V-T1A has a specification of 12.5pF. Will this cause a problem? Or do I
need to ask Microcrystals to specially make me some.
For the high speed clock, I want to go with the highest frequency possible, ie, 8MHz. I
was previously using MSA309 (at 6MHz), a tuning fork can which is 9mm*3mm*3mm.
Microcrystal makes a crystal which runs at 8MHz, the CC1A-T1A
(http://www.microcrystal.com/productdocuments/variants/CC1A-T1A._9956.pdf). However, this
one is slightly larger than I would like. Does anyone have any experience with a small
high-speed clock for the MSP430F1611?
