Which LPC2138 dev kit to buy? - fredrikssonjohan - Apr 1 11:08:00 2005
Hi!
I'm looking for a good dev kit of LPC2138 to buy. Any recomendations
or keep aways that you can hint me on?
So far I've found Keil, IAR and Olimex (coming, no price yet!).
As I need to kickstart a LPC2138 project I'm happy for any input!
Cheers
/Johan

The Rowley tools are VERY nice and include many examples for various
evaluation boards. Support is good and quick and the price is right.
It includes a tasking library and interfaces to the J-Link JTAG
interface, with which I have had no problems.

Hi Johan,
this depends highly on your preference for software tools. If you like
Keil and will use it, buy Keil! If you like IAR and will use it, buy
IAR! If you are sure that you will not use either one, the Olimex is
lowest price but does not come with the software example the two
others do.
IAR and Keil have examples included and provide a better package. With
Olimex you can save probably around $100 but you will invest that with
extra time compared to the two other ones.
Hardware differences are minimal, IAR has a small LCD display (text
only), Keil has a speaker for DAC out and more LEDs.
btw. I heard that Olimex will do a 2138 kit but I could not find it
yet on their website.
