I just checked the link, it seems to be fine. Could you give it a try again?
I am using FireFox. Anyways, I will have it checked.

Can't see any circuit diagram or any other info about them. I'd be interested if they make the circuit diagram available.

Well all the documents and schematics will be made available. The
documentation part is still a work under progress.

The LPC2148 Blueboard I've got came with a schematic and full
documentation on a CD-ROM. It'll probably be the same with the new
boards. I've ordered one of the LPC1768-H units, I think they start
shipping in a couple of weeks.

Leon, just a small correction, we don't ship with CD-ROM (trying our bit to
reduce e-waste), we will have all the information and sample codes available
for download. Yes, we will start shipping them in couple of weeks.

Seems to be language-related. I got the German page which had bugs.

Pretty good point. Yes, thats the sad part about the international
shipments. Actually very recently we added one more option (INDIA POST EMS)
that costs less, which is about 14.5 Euros. But the good point is that the
shipment remains the same even if you order 3 boards, gets better
(shipment/board) if you order more. 14.5 Euro for a order of 75 Euro is not
too bad I guess?

NGX is working on a solution for this. If you have any suggestions on
bringing down the shipping costs we would be more than happy to hear from
you. We might very soon have a distributor in Europe.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I actually contacted them asking if they would be interested in carrying one
of our best sellers http://code.google.com/p/blueboard-lpc214x/, and after
three months they came back to me suggesting that they are not interested in
carrying it. However I will again contact them with our new launches, may be
they get interested this time around :), just waiting for the documentation
work to complete :(

Sparkfun wants 30% markup on the items they sell, which would be a problem.

Assuming they got any kind of volume discount, by the time I got it I would still save money of shipping from India. The shipping is the deal breaker, not the price of the board.

Well, another LPC2148 board is pretty meaningless. However, they don't carry an LPC17xx even though Olimex makes one. I had to settle for the STM32F103.

Sparkfun only charged us $4 for US Airmail postage and packing to Australia for a small board. It arrived in about five days. Even if they added 30% to NGX retail prices it would still be cheaper overall for a one-off.

But this is US to Australia. I do not know today, but in the past it was
cheaper to send something from the US to Germany than the other way round.
This might explain, why airmail from India is more expensive.

I might be interested in one but I cant get any info off their site. I can't tell what the price is or even what part of the planet they are on. Makes me a little hesitant if I have to start doing business with a company that is so mysterious.

Strange, I went to the contact page and found this:

NGX Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
#142, 1st Floor, 1st 'C' Cross,
6th 'B' Main, REMCO layout,
Vijaynagar, Bangalore-560040
Phone : +91-80-23103205
Fax : +91-80-23103206
email:s...@ngxtechnologies.com

I also found prices, but all in roupies, but I guess you can get a quote
in any currency you prefer.

So noting "mysterious" about them.

Re: Re: New boards from NGX - Was Marcus - Feb 6 14:58:46 2010

I had no trouble at all.

This link:
http://shop.ngxtechnologies.com/index.php?cPath=21

shows four boards. The one most interesting says the price is 1500Rs.  On the right is a drop down menu labelled "Currencies". I select US Dollar and the price is revised to $32.49.

What's the problem?

I don't think so - it seems to be marginally lower. The SparkFun package I referred to was sent 2oz First-Class Int Parcel Rate. The actual postage cost was $US 2.20.

The Indian postage calculator is here:

http://www.indiapost.gov.in/PostageCalculator.html

According to that the cost for a 100g small packet by un-registered airmail to Australia is 65 Rupees which is only $US 1.40. Even if sent registered with a delivery advice the total cost is only 90 Rupees ($US 1.95).

The cost of India -> Germany is the same as India -> Australia.

Parcel rate is significantly higher but up to 2kg can be sent at the small packet rate.

Not in the German version. The right frame only shows PHP errors.

So it is up to NGX to explain, why they charge so much more :-)

They use the EMS Speed Post service, which has tracking and, presumably,
insurance. Check the prices for that.

Re: Re: New boards from NGX - Ashwin Athani - Feb 8 2:49:40 2010

First off, please take into account only the India Post EMS charges. For
your kind information the rates displayed on the website are excluding TAXES
and other charges like Merchandise service charge of another 3USD, the
taxes are at 10.3% and yes we do charge 2 USD extra for shipments as there
is lot of paper work required for international shipments.

The charges you are referring to are for the registered POST which is
another service offered by INDIA POST, but it does not have the tracking
facility. When you are shipping goods internationally customers generally
ask for tracking facility. NGX would be more than happy to ship goods
through whatever mode the customers prefers. But everything comes at a cost.
For registered POST service we got to ensure that someone from NGX should
travel to the nearest post office, wait in the long queue at the office and
post it. It does add up to the operating cost, we have no choice but to
charge the customer for this effort.

I find it strange and funny that nobody complains about others shipping
charges, check this out for shipping charges
http://olimex.com/dev/index.html if these prices are acceptable then our
offer is great. Isn't it?? :)

We have shipped our products to more than 25 countries and probably more
than 200 international shipments. There isn't a single shipment that we have
missed out on follow up and ensuring that the order is delivered. On the
contrary other vendors refuse to take responsibility for undelivered
shipments.

We are striving very hard to get down the shipping cost and have
distributors set up world wide. Take this as example, shipment to Germany,
LPC1768-H board single piece. The total charge as I see is 52.5 USD (India
Post EMS), which is still competitive and attractive. And if you want it
through register post it will be still lesser I guess it would be about
43USD.

I am glad that you raised this point, we would be adding the option for this
very soon. In fact the INDIA POST EMS service was added very recently. These
things take time. But we always welcome such feedback/comments, I for one
always believe that NEGATIVE feedback systems are more stable :)

Communication, communication, communication ...

If everything is explained at the point of sale then problems are minimised. Olimex offer choices and explain the differences. The customer can decide if he wants the cheap, slow option or the fast, more expensive option.

If I go to the NGX store and click on the "Shippings and Returns" link under "Information":

http://shop.ngxtechnologies.com/shipping.php

I see a blank page! 9 out of 10 potential customers who have a similar experience are going to look elsewhere :-(
