Running an 8Mhz at 4Mhz - snaresystems - Jun 27 1:26:00 2000

Hey everyone,

I'm about to put in a
purchase for a few AVR's and I was looking at some of the
specs of these things. On the SK200 board it comes with
AT90S8515-8PC (8Mhz) and yet has an on board crystal of 4Mhz.
Is it safe to say then if I purchase another 8Mhz
chip I can safely use a 4mhz Crystal for it, if I
decide to goto the lower speed for power
saving?

Thanks for any help!
Nathan

You CAN safely use a 4mhz Crystal for power saving? You can use any frequency down to 0Hz (DC).
