Ask Away, I am very familiar with this app note, and have designed a few
battery chargers based on this app note, I am currently working on a 48V gel
cell charger to replace the one in a UPS I am rebuilding.

Yes this is an electronics related group however it is related to AVR
and your "products" are not AVR's or AVR related other than in the
least accurate sense.

Hrm - this might be a good thread to get some associated
information. Does anyone know if it's possible to recondition or at
least test the SLA batteries in a UPS ?

I have several UPS's that are all in the 5-year old range, that are
all complaining about the batteries - the "Replace Batteries" LED is
coming on. Most of these have either two or four of the 12V SLA
batteries in them.

I've pulled all the batteries and checked them, and while most look
OK, there are a couple with only a few volts across them. Even the
ones that appear OK - they show at least 12V or more - the UPS still
complains when they're installed.

How can one determine the condition of the batteries, and is it
possible to recondition them ? I've heard things like applying
reverse voltage across them briefly to break apart the sulfating on
the electrodes, or charging at higher than normal voltage and current
briefly and so on.

wife is from the Phillipines, and s/h is pretty steep. And at these
prices..... I think someone is looking to get a lot of suckers to
send him a small amount of money.

Average Nurse's salary in PI is $200-250/month, or ~$50/week.

Getting people to send small ( to us) checks of $10 or $15 would be
quite the scam at today's exchange rate. Don't be stupid, its too
good to be true.

information the shipping to US for 100 grams or less is only 50 pesos
or roughly $1. You can call the Philippine Post Office for that, I
DARE YOU !. If your other concern is the very low price, try ordering
1,000 pieces at Future Electronics in Pasay City, Philippines, I DARE

For what its worth, I stand by my statement that this is a scam, or a
spam. I don't believe I stated that you were scamming people, but
that this has the potential to be such. However, as you've indicated
you have very, very low pricing in the P.I.'s at qty. 1000+, I would
have to assume you are simply spamming this group.

Most of these groups are for people who are interested in niche/hobby
areas, and not for -your- commercial gain! If you do not like these
replies, then set up a legitimate website and do it the Right Way.
