DIY stands for "do-it-yourself." In ham radio we call it "homebrewing."=20
In either case, it means he wants to build his own, not buy a ready-made=20
unit.

I would like to build somthing like this, and on closer inspection it=20
looks like it has an in-circuit programming feature...

hi
I think if you don't want to lose data ,you should write this periodicly to=
o eeprom .you can't guess how an error occurs or voltage drop

Re: [AVR club] Write in EEprom - rahmatoolah abedini - Oct 26 2:31:14 2008

Hi=20
Thanks a lot for your reply. But you know better than me that you can write =
in EEprom for limited numbers at most 100,000 times. After that your EEprom=
will be defected, in addition you lost Data between lasted writing in EEpr=
om and the drop power.
I think Brown-out Reset Interrupt is a kind of interrupt that run when the =
power voltage goes down of the limited level. If I can write my integer var=
iable in that interrupt my problem will be solved.
Best regards
Abedini

Re: [AVR club] Write in EEprom - aila h - Oct 26 10:02:13 2008

I know about this well
but as I know brown out circuit doesn't make an intterupt and just reset mi=
cro
In this case I think you better make a similar circuit as brown out detecti=
on circuit with a level higher than your internal bod . and use its result =
as a triger for writing in EEprom .
note : 100000times for eeprom isn't so sure ,I=A0had an=A0atmega8 , that I =
just can write in its eeprom less than 500 times

You really should stop (wishful) thinking and start reading the
datasheet (p.40): BOD is not an interrupt but a reset.

If your circuit is powered by AC power you could add some circuitry to
detect zero crossings at the secondary of your transformer. If the
signals seizes it's time to write your data to the EEPROM since you've
only left what is in your buffer capacitor (which should then be big
enough for the EE-write to take place).
