[AVR club] help needed in programming ATMEGA32 using AVR studio - moon...@gmail.com - Jun 3 11:12:45 2008

Hey All,
I am a beginner in microcontroller programming. I have been trying to connect my board for GSM communication which has an ATMEGA32 to AVR studio using AVR JTAG connector for programming it, but have not been successful yet. Please help me if someone knows how to use AVR Studio for connecting to ATMEGA 32 using JTAG-ICE.

Thanks,
Vijayshree

Hey Kundan,
Thanks for replying.. Yeah I have gone through quite a lot of the user manual of AVR studio and still am going through, though the section on connecting the JTAG conencter to USB port, does not really help, as I am encountering different behavior as compared to what is written there! No clue where I am going wrong!!

Hi Vijayshree,

What kind of JTAG-ICE do you have ? With the original ATMEL JTAG-ICE with
USB connection you must select JTAGICE mkII as programmer in AVR Studio. But
if you don't have the original ATMEL one, then most likely your JTAG-ICE is
just a standard one for connection to a RS232 serial port but with a build
in USB to RS232 interface. In that case you must select JTAG ICE as
programmer an you must select the proper COM port and the proper settings
for this port. I own a JTAG-ICE made by ETT in Thailand. I have to connect
this JTAG-ICE to the target device which also must be powered up. Otherwise
the JTAG-ICE is not recognised by AVR Studio.

Best regards,

Dolf de Waal

Hi Vijayshree. =A0
What are the messages you getting during connectio/failure.
Tell me. Do something.U are working in C or Assembly?

1.driver update.
2.device support issue.
