[AVR club] System Clock - n.na...@gmail.com - May 19 8:02:11 2008

Hi everyone. I am doing a project using ATMEGA169P. Can anyone tell me how to set the system clock as external oscillator. I am using crystal of frequency 16MHz. There are no registers to make system clock settings.

What programmer are you using? It's done with the fuse bits.

The STK500, in combination with AVRStudio, has a window for the fuse bits
which you select by clicking the appropriate box.

If your 169P is anything like the other ATmel parts, the clock mode is
set with a fuse, not in your program. Figuring out how to set the
fuses can be intimidating. If it is like the ATtiny26 AVR then it
cannot be done over a ISP type programming, you need the high voltage
method to set the fuses (that is how it is on the ATtiny26)

This might help too.
