[AVR club] Use Reset pin as IO - rahmatoolah abedini - Jan 19 8:03:30 2008

Hi friend:
I face with a problem when I want to use Reset pins as IO in ATMEGA8. For=
this means I=92ve marked RSTDISBL fuse bit in programming stage in Codevis=
ion program with ISP STK 200/300 , but after programming process my progra=
mmed IC didn=92t work at all.
Best Regards
Ali

What did you set the other code bits to? The very first mistake I made in=
=20
programming an AVR was to set the oscillator bits incorrectly. Actually,=20
I didn't even bother looking and the programmer set them to the wrong=20
bits.

I only made that mistake once.

Dear freind

stk 200/300 programmers use Serial Programming method in which RESET pin is=
needed for programming proccess. so I think due to u disabled that pin, th=
e programming procedure failed at all. Even if the programmer could did the=
right programming, your IC was not be able to be programmed again by that =
kind of programmer. I sugget to use a parallel programmer for your task. yo=
u may find more topics about parallel programmers on the web.

[AVR club] Re: Use Reset pin as IO - vid_tech - Jan 20 10:05:29 2008

If you are using serial programming, then you can't use reset pin as IO.
If you disabled reset pin you can't further program by serial.

now you need to enable reset pin by parallel programming.

Re: [AVR club] Use Reset pin as IO - Behrooz - Jan 20 16:30:55 2008

Parallel programmers are rather expensive in comparison with home=20
made STK 200/300, and one may choose to buy another uC instead!

Now I have 3 AVR uC on my desk and their fusebits are set to run with=20
external clock. I know an external clock source can bring them back=20
to life using the same STK 200/300 programmer, but the problem is=20
that I don't know how to do this. What is the right level of peack to=20
peack voltage and the waveform? can a 555 make such a clock source?=20
How can I find the circuit diagram on the internet?
